Why I love teaching: I love facilitating an embodied experience and being able to share the teachings of this practice with others.
What I love about Modo Yoga: Modo’s community and 6 Pillars resonate with me because they’re grounded in the teachings of yoga and offer a way we can show up in each moment with the goal of working towards peace. Having worked with Modo International, Modo Yoga Montreal, and now Modo Yoga Nanaimo, I love Modo Yoga because we’re a pretty down-to-earth, compassionate, and funny group of people in front of and behind the scenes.
If I could give one piece of advice to new students, it would be: I started taking yoga classes when I was 16 and had no idea what was happening in class, I just remembered the feeling of deep relaxation in Savasana. Even after all the training and time on my mat, that feeling is the thing that keeps drawing me back. So don’t worry if it’s all clunky and awkward at the beginning; connect to your inner wisdom each time you take a yoga class, and the rest will unfold over time.
The greatest influence on my teaching: My teachers, taking classes and workshops, functional movement patterns, art, and my meditation practice.
